Jason used a ruler, a pencil, two glasses and water to teach the class about mass. He balanced the ruler across the pencil and filled the glasses about 2/3 full. He then balanced the two glasses on opposite ends of the ruler so that the ruler wasn't touching the table. The class then made predictions on what would happen if Jason dipped his finger in one of the glasses of water. We learned that when Jason put his finger in one glass it got heavier. Jason's finger pushed aside some of the water. The water level went up as his finger took the place of some of the water. Jason's finger increased the volume in the glass.
