The skill of swimming is a skill that helps children play, it is a leisure activity, a form of exercise but also serves the larger role of handling water based situations. We have planned for lessons at the Kindergarten level, to expose children to water with the comfort of their school friends and the expertise of skilled instructors at the Maple Ridge Leisure Center. After 6 lessons, we saw growth in their ability to float on their fronts/backs, get their face wet, breathe underwater, blow bubbles and some strokes developing.

Animal School
We shared this short video clip at our Curriculum Night as it does express the message that we are all different types of learners. As seen with the animals, children vary in their learning styles, motivations and support systems. Kindergarten offers opportunities to try, play, replay, experience, smell, talk, share, inquire, observe, touch and so much more.
